Welcome!

I write about developments in the new ways of working movement. My purpose is to inspire and embolden readers with examples and stories, but also to normalise ‘growing pains’ in transformation processes so that people feel less alone and can perhaps avoid some common pitfalls along the way.

My journey began in around 2014 when I set up Reimaginaire, having left my corporate job in Learning and Development after reaching my limit as a frustrated employee within pyramidal hierarchies. I was inspired early on by pioneers like Ricardo Semler and books like ‘Reinventing Organisations’ by Frederic Laloux. In 2016, I met Karin Tenelius, co-founder of Tuff Leadership Training, and we decided to write a book together about stories of organisations she had helped transform into self-managing organisations since the nineties.

Karin’s approach of starting with the mindset and the way of being (rather than structures and processes) resonated with me and I became a coach and trainer with Tuff. Today I lead courses (online and in-person) with people around the world interested in developing the mindset and skills needed for self-managing teams to thrive.

In 2017, we decided to start a podcast called Leadermorphosis. To date I’ve interviewed nearly one hundred practitioners of new ways of working and being, including some of my heroes like Frederic Laloux, adrienne maree brown, Margaret Wheatley and Miki Kashtan. Some of my favourite episodes are with individuals who share their vulnerable learning moments or lesser known examples of organisational self-management in countries like India, Uganda, and Japan.

I’m grateful to have been included in the Thinkers50 Radar 2020, where they wrote:

“Turning self-managed teams from a good idea into reality is a big challenge and Lisa Gill is leading the way in making it happen.”
